The 2026/2027 executives of the Fountain University Muslim Students’ Society (FUMSS), led by the Ameer, Olawale Mukhthar, commenced a series of courtesy visits to key university officials on Tuesday, 13 October, and Wednesday, 14 October 2026. The visits, which mark the first phase of the Society’s ongoing engagement with university leaders, aim to strengthen relationships with the university management, seek guidance, and foster collaboration towards a successful administration.
The visits began on Tuesday, 13 October, with a meeting with the University Admission Officer, Imam Rauf, who welcomed the executives and emphasised the importance of exemplary conduct and responsible leadership.
He reminded them of their roles as representatives of Muslim students and urged them to demonstrate patience, sincerity, and good character in their dealings with members of the university community. Citing Jama’atu Tabligh as an example of patience in da‘wah, he encouraged the executives to adopt a similar approach in their engagements with students and reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the Society.
On Wednesday, 14 October, the executives visited the University Missioner, Dr Badmus Abdulwaheed, who also serves as the Head of the Department of Arabic and Islamic Studies. He encouraged them to maintain positive relationships with students, treat them with patience and respect, and consistently guide them towards goodness.
Dr Abdulwaheed further highlighted the executives’ responsibility to promote the spiritual development and moral well-being of Muslim students. Reaffirming his longstanding relationship with FUMSS, he assured the new administration of his continued support and guidance.
The final visit in this first phase was to the University Librarian, Dr Sirajudeen Femi Bakrin, who welcomed the executives and offered valuable advice on strengthening the Society’s relationships within the university community. He encouraged them to maintain cordial relationships with lecturers, members of the Muslim community, and the Dean of Student Affairs to facilitate the effective implementation of their programmes.
He also urged the executives to organise engaging and thought-provoking programmes that would encourage learning, reflection, and positive development among students. He emphasised the importance of addressing students’ needs while contributing to their academic, moral, and spiritual growth.
The first phase of the courtesy visits provided the new FUMSS administration with an opportunity to receive guidance from university leaders, strengthen institutional relationships, and reaffirm its commitment to serving the Muslim student community.
The Society looks forward to continuing these engagements with other university leaders as part of its efforts to build stronger institutional relationships and promote Islamic values, exemplary character, spiritual development, and meaningful student engagement throughout its tenure.
