Sisters Like No Other: Inside the Warm Glow of Zunayrah’s Hangout at Fountain University

On a calm Sunday evening at Fountain University, as the echoes of Asr prayer faded and the campus settled into its familiar rhythm, something warm and beautiful unfolded at the Amina Namadi Sambo Hall. It was Zunayrah’s Hangout, a tender, laughter-filled gathering hosted by the female wing of the Fountain University Muslim Students’ Society (MSSN).

Held as part of the Freshers’ Orientation Week themed “Fresh Start, Faithful Steps and Fearless Future,” the event blossomed into a heart-deep celebration of sisterhood. It was a soft pause in the busy life of students, offering companionship, encouragement, and the warmth of shared faith.

The programme began with a heartfelt prayer and Qur’an recitation, setting a peaceful tone that gently wrapped itself around everyone present. Soon after, the atmosphere brightened as the co-anchors introduced a playful icebreaker: sisters wearing the same hijab colour were asked to group together. What followed was an instant wave of laughter, movement, and cheerful searching as students clustered into unexpected teams. In those simple, joyful moments, strangers formed bonds that felt surprisingly natural.

The female executives of the society were then introduced by the female lead, giving freshers the chance to meet the faces behind the sister-focused initiatives on campus. More introductions followed as sisters stood up one after another to say their names, departments, and interests. It was a gentle unfolding of personalities, voices growing bolder, smiles growing wider.

When the games began, the hall transformed into a lively arena of playfulness. Charades brought dramatic gestures; cup-stacking sparked excited competition; “grab the drink” and “pass the message” sparked laughter; and the quick-thinking word game, “my last word is your first word,” kept everyone alert and amused. Cheers rose again and again as groups competed for small tokens, simple prizes that carried big moments of joy.

Refreshments were shared in between, heightening the already lively mood. Conversations flowed more freely, especially during the connecting session where sisters spoke about their experiences, dreams, or simply what made them smile. The short break that followed brimmed with buzzing conversations, numbers exchanged, friendships blooming, and easy laughter rising from every corner of the room.

As the programme gradually drew to a close, a final prayer was made, sealing the evening with gratitude and tranquillity. A joyful photo session followed, capturing the bright faces, glowing hijabs, linked arms, and all the lighthearted memories created in just a few hours. Nasheeds played softly in the background, adding a gentle melody to the moment.

Zunayrah’s Hangout ended not just as an event but as a refreshing haven in the whirlwind of academic life. It reminded the sisters that community, faith, and companionship can soften even the toughest days.

The girls left the hall lighter, refreshed, and wrapped in a newfound sense of belonging, proof that sisterhood, when nurtured with sincerity, truly is like no other.
