FUMSS Pays Courtesy Visit to Professor Olayinka Ramota Kareem

The Fountain University Muslim Students’ Society (FUMSS) recently paid a courtesy visit to the Vice Chancellor of Fountain University, Osogbo, Professor Olayinka Ramota Kareem. The visit, held on Thursday, at the Senate Building, served as an opportunity to introduce the new FUMSS executives and appreciate the Vice Chancellor’s efforts in supporting the Muslim community and advancing the university as a faith-based institution.

Professor Ramota Kareem warmly received the team and extended her heartfelt congratulations to the new executives on their rewarding roles. She expressed her readiness to support them in achieving a successful tenure.

“I am delighted to meet with you. I appreciate that FUMSS programs align with the school’s mission as a knowledge- and faith-based institution. Your programs for developing students’ moral character and spiritual development are fascinating and enriching,” she said.

The Vice Chancellor also launched 20 copies of the FUMSS magazine (Al Fathu), which was presented by the formal Ameer, Sodiq Adeboye that was produced during his tenure.

She noted that the copies will be distributed to all departments and administrative offices of the university.

The Vice Chancellor applauded FUMSS for its impactful programs, including the ‘League of Brothers’, which she noted as an excellent addition alongside the Sisters’ Circle. She urged the executives to continue serving as outstanding role models and representatives of Islamic principles within the university’s student body.

Furthermore, she urged them to open their programs to students of other faiths, fostering inclusivity and making the mosque environment more inviting and welcoming. Likewise, Professor Kareem spoke about important issues such as encouraging and inviting their friends to attend dawah, correcting inappropriate dressing, encouraging the spirit of sadaqah (charity), and taking part in Asalatu.

She emphasized the value of knowing and memorizing the Qur’an and urged society to aim for the graduation of at least 50 students in the Walimatul Qur’an program during their tenure.
