FUMSS Hosts Workers’ Iftar Get-Together 2.0: An Evening of Gratitude and Camaraderie

By Bolanle Nasirat

The Fountain University Muslim Students’ Society (FUMSS) on Wednesday hosted the second edition of its Workers’ Iftar Get-Together (FWIGET 2.0), an evening dedicated to reflection, appreciation, and unity among members. More than just a gathering to break the fast, the event served as a tribute to the dedication and hard work of those who contribute tirelessly to the society’s success.

The evening commenced with an opening prayer, setting a solemn and reflective atmosphere. This was followed by insightful speeches from ex-officio members, past executives, and current FUMSS workers, who shared words of wisdom, encouragement, and nostalgia. Their reflections underscored the collective impact of FUMSS members and the value of their contributions.

To foster interaction and strengthen bonds, an engaging icebreaker activity was introduced. The game encouraged members to learn more about one another in a lively and relaxed setting, filling the room with laughter and friendly exchanges. Shortly after, attendees took a break to break their fast and observe the Maghrib prayer.

The night took on a spirited tone with a Kahoot quiz featuring FUMSS-related questions. The friendly competition ignited excitement, as participants eagerly tested their knowledge and vied for the top spot. The activity added an element of fun while reinforcing members’ connection to the society’s history and achievements.

The evening concluded with a shared meal, symbolizing appreciation for the efforts of FUMSS workers. It was a moment of gratitude, recognition, and strengthened camaraderie, reaffirming the importance of teamwork in sustaining the society’s progress.

FUMSS Ameer, Muadh Monsur, shares his insight on the significance of the event.

“The primary objective of the event is to celebrate each and every one of us for the work we’ve done before and during Ramadan. From our programs to our fundraisings and milestones, every achievement deserves recognition. This event, designed exclusively for our members, provides a rare opportunity to meet, dine, and reconnect in this blessed month. We pray that Allah accepts it as an act of worship from us all.” He said.

FWIGET 2.0 was not just an iftar—it was a celebration of commitment, unity, and the unwavering spirit of FUMSS. As the night came to a close, one thing remained clear: the bonds within the society continue to grow stronger with each gathering.
