Fountain University Shines at NASFAT Qur’anic Competition

Fountain University’s Muslim Students’ Society (FUMSS) recently participated in the prestigious NASFAT Qur’anic Competition, where the university showcased both its academic and spiritual strengths. The event, held under the auspices of NASFAT, saw a gathering of Muslim youth united by a shared commitment to deepening their understanding of the Qur’an.

The event was graced by the Chief Missioner of NASFAT, Ma’aruf Onike, who was represented by Dr. K.K. Busari, the Zonal Missioner. In his speech, Dr. Busari emphasized the Qur’an competition as a powerful tool to unite Muslims and foster an environment of learning and collaboration. He encouraged the youth to engage with the Qur’an, not only for spiritual growth but also as a means to enrich their lives and society.

National Ameer Tajudeen Olasunkanmi also delivered a compelling address, highlighting the significance of Qur’anic competitions as a form of Da’wah. He called for greater participation and continued efforts in spreading the teachings of the Qur’an through such initiatives.

The competition was structured into two exciting segments. The first featured a battle between two zones: the Ondo Zone, represented by Oriwe Balqees, and the Kaduna Zone, represented by Muhammad Ummul Khair. After a thrilling contest, Oriwe Balqees emerged victorious, securing the grand prize of ₦150,000, while Muhammad Ummul Khair claimed the first runner-up position with ₦100,000.

The second segment of the competition saw the brightest talents from three societies vying for supremacy. Representing NASFAT was Oriwe Balqees, who had already triumphed in the previous round. The Fountain University Muslim Students’ Society (FUMSS) was represented by Abubakar Maimunah, and the Al-Qassimiyah Society was represented by Bello Abubakar.

After a rigorous and closely contested event, the judges declared the results. Oriwe Balqees of NASFAT clinched the top spot with an impressive 95.5 points, securing a reward of ₦80,000. Abubakar Maimunah of FUMSS narrowly missed the top position, finishing as the first runner-up with 94.5 points, and was awarded ₦65,000. Bello Abubakar of Al-Qassimiyah Society secured the second runner-up position with 85 points, taking home ₦50,000.

The competition not only highlighted the participants’ knowledge and commitment to the Qur’an but also reinforced the importance of such events in nurturing a spiritually enriched community. The success of Fountain University’s delegation serves as a testament to the institution’s commitment to fostering academic and spiritual excellence.
