Common phrases like “The Muslim Sisters don’t go out” or “The Muslim Sisters are boring!” couldn’t be further from the truth after the phenomenal success of Zunayrah’s Hangout. This remarkable event wasn’t just a gathering—it was a celebration of sisterhood, laughter, and unforgettable moments that left a lasting impression on everyone who attended.

The day started on a heartfelt note with an opening prayer that set the tone for the event. This was followed by an inspiring address from the Ameerah, Isa-Adewoyin Aliyyah, who spoke passionately about the importance of embracing sisterhood. She highlighted how fostering meaningful interactions and building networks of support and trust are essential for unity.

Aaliyah’s speech also carried a powerful message of inclusivity, emphasizing that the bond of sisterhood extends beyond religious boundaries. Her words resonated deeply, reminding everyone of the beauty of understanding and mutual respect.

With spirits soaring, the fun officially kicked off with a series of engaging games that had the sisters cheering, laughing, and competing.

The first game, The Number Game, was a test of quick thinking and focus. Participants had to avoid saying multiples of three, numbers containing the digit three, and any previously mentioned numbers. It was intense, but in the end, Afolabi Sherifat, a 100-level public health student, triumphed, earning applause from the crowd.

Next came the crowd-favourite Musical Chairs, where every pause in the nasheed brought a frenzy of motion and laughter. The excitement of scrambling for seats turned each elimination into a bittersweet yet hilarious moment.

Head, Shoulders, Toes, Pick added a creative twist to the day. This unique game tested players’ reflexes as they followed rapid commands, culminating in an unexpected scramble to grab prizes. The room echoed with laughter as participants navigated the chaos.

As the saying goes, “Laughter is brightest where food is,” and the energy soared during the fiery round of Rock, Paper, Scissors to decide who would eat first. The spirited competition even saw the Ameerah and Ex-Officio Ameerah, Ibrahim Maryam, joining in, adding a lighthearted touch to the event.

The fun continued with the daring game of Answer Correctly or Be Drenched. This playful activity kept everyone on their toes—especially the Ameerahs, who didn’t escape the occasional splash of water.

For those with a thirst for competition, the Drinking Contest stole the show. Bottles of soft drinks became tools of triumph as sisters showcased their “drinking muscles,” downing their drinks in under 30 seconds amidst cheers from the crowd.

While the event was packed with fun, it also served as a reminder of the deeper purpose behind the sisterhood. The Bi-Weekly Sister’s Circle was introduced as a platform for fostering deeper connections, providing answers to questions, and creating a safe space for meaningful conversations.

This emphasis on unity, growth, and spirituality added a layer of significance to the day, reminding everyone that sisterhood is about more than just fun—it’s about building lasting relationships.
