FUMSS Usrah: Islamic Scholar Urges Students to Strengthen Faith Amid Academic Pressures

The Fountain University Muslim Students’ Society (FUMSS) has urged students to strengthen their relationship with Allah and remain steadfast in their faith while navigating academic and personal challenges.

The call was made by Ustadh Folaranmi Ridwan during the Society’s first Usrah programme for the 2026/2027 academic session, held at the University Mosque on Friday.

Speaking on the theme, “New Session, Renewed Imaan: Strengthening Our Relationship with Allah,” Ustadh Ridwan drew lessons from Surah Al-Kahf, encouraging students to rely on Allah while making efforts towards their academic and personal goals.

He highlighted the story of the People of the Cave, who chose to preserve their faith despite the pressure to abandon their beliefs. He urged students to remain steadfast when faced with difficulties, including examination failures and other personal challenges.

The speaker also emphasised the importance of good companionship, warning students against relationships that encourage moral compromise and academic dishonesty. He encouraged them to cultivate friendships that strengthen their faith and promote positive character.

He further urged students to balance their academic pursuits with Islamic learning and regular Qur’anic recitation, stressing the importance of managing their time effectively.

The programme concluded with prayers for Allah’s guidance, forgiveness and protection in the students’ academic and personal affairs.

Meanwhile, the FUMSS Ameer, Olawale Mukhtar, disclosed that the new administration had several initiatives planned for the benefit of the Muslim student community.
