FUMSS Pay Visit To FOMWAN Orphanage Osogbo

As part of its annual tradition of giving back, the Fountain University of Muslim Students’ Society (FUMSS) paid a courtesy visit to the FOMWAN Osogbo Orphanage home on Saturday. The visit aimed to extend love and generosity to the children, especially during the holy month of Ramadan.

In his address, the Ameer of FUMSS, Muadh Monsur, emphasized that such acts of kindness are a form of Ibadah and a way to express gratitude to Allah. He cited the Quran (2:215):

“Whatever of your wealth you spend shall [first] be for your parents, and for the near of kin, and the orphans, and the needy, and the wayfarer; and whatever good you do, verily, God has full knowledge thereof.”

Mrs. Adeyemi Rakayat, the Administrative Secretary of FOMWAN Osun State, highlighted the organization’s commitment to empowering women in society. She explained that the orphanage is entrusted with the responsibility of caring for underprivileged children and positively impacting their lives.

During an interview, she shed light on the procedures for accepting children into the orphanage, the role of the government, and the general well-being of the children. She explained that when a child is brought to them, the relatives must fill out a form and undergo medical tests, including screenings for HIV and Hepatitis B. If a child tests positive for these conditions, they are unfortunately not accepted. Additionally, a local government Ameera verifies the child’s background to prevent false claims, such as misleading reports about a mother’s death. Furthermore, the head of the child’s family is required to make a small monthly contribution.

Mrs. Adeyemi acknowledged the efforts of the government in supporting the orphanage. She mentioned that Her Excellency, Chief Mrs. Titilola Adeleke, has extended financial and material support to the children on occasions such as Children’s Day and her birthday. Additionally, she organized a get-together for orphanage groups and provided 50 slots for JAMB registration last year. She expressed hope that the government would continue its generosity towards the children.

The well-being of the children, she noted, has been progressing smoothly through God’s guidance and the support of well-wishers.

The visitation brought smiles and joyous moments to the children and officers on the ground, leaving a lasting impact on their hearts.
